Happy February folks! January was three years long! Seriously when you think about all that went down in January it truly does feel like the month was three years long. It was a rough one for me but there were. a few things that really helped me through it.

Punch Needle Embroidery

I spoke about punch needle embroidery in my post about five anxiety-reducing hobbies. I received my first kit the third weeks of January. And was hooked. I have since ordered four more kits and finished another one. They are easy to do - it takes me about 2 hours to complete one and are the perfect anxiety-reducing hobby for me. It is creative, easy and fun and you can zone out a bit while you do it. I purchased most of my kits from Etsy, but they are also available on Amazon, which is where I purchased the kit above.

KJH Academy

I am a big fan of makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes. I follow her on Instagram and am always in awe of the laid back edgy yet glam looks she creates. She has a weekly challenge that she does every Friday called KJH Academy where she creates a look on IG Stories and anyone who wants join can recreate the look and use the hashtag #kjhacademy. She then picks nine people to feature on her page. I had been wanting to join one of these challenges for ages but was always too late. In January I resolved to make sure that I caught it in time. And I did. I did three weeks in January and I’m really proud of myself. It has been a great way to challenge myself and try new techniques. It also works well with what I want to do in 2021 as far as my makeup collection; which is utilize it more and in new ways.

Project Makeover

This game kept getting recommended to me and I defiantly ignored it. And then one day in a moment of weakness I downloaded it. And now I’m obsessed. The game is a hybrid of a match game and a fashion and home decor game. All of it is wrapped in the premise of a makeover show. So basically it’s two of my favorite types of games put together. I will say that it’s obnoxious that you have to rely on the match game to move forward and earn money in the game. But it’s also a lot of fun.

WandaVision

This entire post could have been just about WandaVision. It is HANDS DOWN my favorite thing of January 2021. I am obsessed with it and th slow burn of one episode a week being released and been unable to binge watch it make it all the more torturous and delicious. Marvel and Disney knew what they were doing with that format. The show is STUNNING. And you don’t necessarily have to be a huge Marvel fan to enjoy it. The nostalgic nods to American sitcom history alone are entertaining. The story is smart and suspenseful, funny and quirky and unlike anything Marvel has ever done. It is a truly unique piece of art. If you haven’t started it now would be the time to do so. Binge watch the first four episodes (there will be 9 total) and then go on YouTube and do a deep dive into all the analysis videos. You can thank me later.

What were some of your favorite things in January? Let me know in the comments.
