December and January Favorites - Makeup and Netflix

The last month of 2019 and the first of 2020 were quiet months overall. Today is the final day of my January low buy and I am beyond excited about that. During January I spent a lot of time using products I already own and have discovered new faves and rediscovered items that had gotten lost in my collection.

Pat McGrath Decadence Palette Limited Edition Star Wars Collection

Getting my hands on this palette was a journey and an emotional roller coaster. Having said that… I love this palette. When it was first released in I believe 2017/2018 it was a huge hit and it was the only full size palette of Pat’s that I really wanted. I was worried that it would be hard to use because it is an all metallic palette but I actually love pairing it with other palettes to create looks. One of the palettes this pairs beautifully with is the Melt Cosmetics Muerte palette.

NYX Sugar Trip Squad Highlighter Palette

I bought this palette on clearance in the winter of 2018. And used it maybe once or twice at the most. And then it promptly was forgotten about. When I did my major declutter I decided to keep this palette because I actually love the highlighter shades. They looks crazy in the pan but on the face they are beautiful. They have a lovely wet and glowy look. I’ve been reaching for this palette a lot over the last month - specifically the last shade in the palette. It’s stunning.

Pat McGrath LuxeTrance Lipstick in Lust Angeles

I am not really a huge tube lipstick person. My exception to this is the Pat McGrath LuxeTrance Lipstick formula (I also like the MatteTrance but to a lesser degree). I own a lot of Pat’s lipsticks but I picked up Lust Angeles during the LuxeTrance sale on Cyber Monday. It’s become my go-to lipstick. It’s the perfect neutral-toned nude. And despite being a tube lipstick it lasts really well on the lips.

Netflix

You Season 2

I feel like everyone and their mother has been talking about this show. When the first season premiered on Netflix in 2018 I stopped watching after the first episode because the female character, Beck, annoyed the hell out of me. Once Season 2 premiered at the end of December last year and everyone started talking about it, I decided to give the show one last shot. I’m so glad I did. Beck was STILL annoying. But the show was so engaging, and wacky and unexpectedly funny. I think Season 2 was much better than the first one. And the three main reasons for that is where the show picks up (Los Angeles) and how it’s shot and referenced. As well as a compelling female character (sorry but Beck was…NOT compelling. At all.) and a major plot twist that makes you want to go back re watch everything you’ve just seen.

Don’t F*ck With Cats

I was sooo reticent about watching this. I don’t like animal cruelty and I am a cat owner and lover. Not a lot makes me cry but any violence toward and animal and a cat specifically gets me every time. But a friend of mine watched it and told me that the videos of the abuse were heavily edited and much of it isn’t shown. And so I watched it…and it’s a fantastic documentary. It really pulls you in and the story is insane. There are edited clips of the videos included and there was one moment where I needed to take a little break (that was more due to my own sensitivity than what was actually shown). So if you are an animal lover but are interested in the story itself: Which is about a mysterious man who posts a viral video of him killing two kittens online. And about the group of amatuer internet sleuths who track him down. But not before he escalates to killing people. It’s a real life cat and mouse story and also a story of good vs evil.
