Wish List Recap: What I Bought On Black Friday

Wish List Recap: What I Bought On Black Friday

So Black Friday and Cyber Monday are behind us. How did everyone do? Are your wallets weeping or did you skip the sales bonanza altogether? Last month I talked about my decision to go on a low-buy after December 1st (it was more like December 2nd - don’t judge). And so I kind of used the Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) sales as a way to clear my wish list before my low-buy so I wouldn’t be tempted to overspend during the remainder of the holiday season. I wrote about what I was interested in picking up this holiday season here. I did much better than I did last year when I bought ALL THE THINGS.

This seems like a lot, I know. But it was all the items I had planned on buying. I had removed a few items from my original wish list (The Dominique Cosmetics Celestial Storm palette and the Chantecaille singles, for example). I also only picked up the Muerte palette from the Melt Cosmetics Amor Eterno collection. I didn’t grab the brushes or the Vida palette. I picked up the Molten Liquid Eyeliner that I’d had my eye on and an eye pencil. And that was the extent of my Melt haul. I was quite proud of my restraint while ordering - Melt is one of those brands that excites me when I shop on their site.

The Lime Crime Immortalis palette was a bit of an impulse purchase I’m not going to lie. It’s been on my wish list since it came out but I kept going back and forth on buying it. Ulta then marked it down half off for Cyber Monday and I decided to go for it. I also picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Vol. 3 Palette. The ABH site had it on sale which was great because I really didn’t want to pay the full $60 retail price for it. Give Me Glow Cosmetics has been on my radar for ages. They make one of my favorite liquid lipstick shades of all time (Whiskey & Honey - which I replaced because my first one was finished). I have wanted to try their eyeshadows since everyone raves about them. I purchased the Vintage Rose palette as well the highlight that’s been on my wish list forever, Halo.

The Urban Decay Naked Honey palette was kinda sorts on my wish list. I wasn’t in a huge hurry to buy it but had a coupon code from Ulta and decided to use it to purchase it. My Colourpop order was much smaller than I thought it would be. I originally had a 4 palettes in my cart but took two of them out: Going Coconuts and Baby Got Peach). I purchased the Smoke Show palette and the I Lilac You A Lot palette along with a mascara and my brow pencil. I do still want Going Coconuts and Baby Got Peach and so I will purchase them eventually.

My first black Friday order was from Kaleidos Makeup. I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted two of their new highlighters. I picked up Comet Catcher and Solar Sailor. Kaleidos was having a buy one get half sale on all of their items so my total with shipping came to what I would have spent for just one. Winning!

What Else I Bought

I did buy a few other non-beauty items. I purchased a new longer down coat, a new pair of snow boots and two pairs of boots that had been on my wish list since late Summer/Early Fall. They were a splurge, but they were also 40% off and I felt comfortable with the purchase.

Overall…not bad. Not amazing. But not bad. I’m low-key regretting starting my low buy in December. What the hell was I thinking?! Why not January 1st, Ameerah?! Present self is mad at past self.
