My Favorite Makeup and Skincare of 2019

My Favorite Makeup and Skincare of 2019

I originally wanted to make this a “My Top Ten Favorite Palettes of 2019” post like I did for 2018, but…well I actually don’t have 10 palettes this year that I wanted to add. I had some real stars that I loved but when I looked at what I’d purchased this year only a handful really stood out. And so I decided to broaden the list and make it for makeup and skincare. Because there was actually a fair amount of things I loved in 2019.

1. Natasha Denona Metropolis Palette

This is hands down, no contest, my favorite palette of 2019.

2. Kevin Aucoin Foundation Balm

So many people disliked this foundation. But I loved it. It topped my list of the best 2019 foundation releases.

3. Melt Cosmetics Muerte Palette

Everything about this entire collection was beautiful and well thought out. But the Muerte palette color story stands out for me.

4. Farmacy Honey Drop Moisturizer

I am on my second jar of this moisturizer and ordered a backup during Black Friday. It is lightweight and yet hydrating and sinks into the skin quickly. I’ve tried a ton of moisturizers this year and this one is hands down my favorite.

5. Ace Beaute Oceanic Palette

This color story is stunning and the formula is huge improvement over Ace Beaute’s previous palettes.

6. Give Me Glow Cosmetics Halo Highlighter

This highlighter had been on my wish list for years. I finally got it during Black Friday and it has not disappointed. I’ve been wearing it practically every day since I received it. It’s intense - but stunning.

7. Kaleidos Futurism V

The final palette on the list. This year I discovered Kaleidos Makeup and I am so glad I did. Their eyeshadow formula is one of the best I have ever tried and this color story is beautiful.

8. Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Setting Powder

After the Decadence launch debacle on Pat’s site yesterday I seriously considered taking this off the list. I am so upset with how the entire thing was handled that it has soured her brand for me quite a bit. But before that happened this powder was a favorite of mine. And still is. Pat’s products are amazing. Her customer service, website and social media? Not so much. The brand has had one disastrous launch/sale after another this year and I truly hope that Mother Pat takes the time to reevaluate the way she and her team handle things. And completely revamp her website because it’s garbage. But yes- this powder is fantastic. It’s more for oily skin types and I prefer to use it in the summer as I find it a tad drying during the fall and winter.

9. Milk Hydrogrip Primer

I’ve gone on about this primer in favorites posts and everything I’ve said still stands. It’s been my go-to primer this year. I abandoned it for a hot minute for the Cane & Austin primer (which began breaking me out and I had to stop using), but came back to it and was reminded why I love it so much.

10. Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum

This serum is perfect cocktail of ingredients for the skin: Copper Peptides, Niacinimide, and Hyaluronic Acid. I like to use this in the morning as an extra boost to my skin after my Vitamin C serum.

What have been some of your favorite makeup and skincare in 2019? Let me know in the comments.
