Fall Basics To Stock Up On Now
That's right folks...Fall is just around the corner. I have already started thinking about what I need to stock up on, repurchase and update in my Fall wardrobe. August is actually the perfect time to stock up on all of your fall essentials. Everything is in stock (no sizes and colors sold out) and relatively easy to get your hands on. This way you will have the foundation you can build on with your more exciting fashion pieces and elements.
I live in leggings during the fall months. I love pairing them under long tunic shirts as well as skirts and dresses with boots. I feel like every woman should have at least 2-3 pairs of good quality black leggings in her closet.
Another must-have for me. These I wear to work under my skirts and dresses paired with boots. I usually grab a basic opaque pair as well as a thicker one, perhaps ribbed or knit. The Nanny had it right; there is something about black tights with dresses that is just forever chic.
White and Blue Button Down
These are really year-round staples, but Fall is a good time to update the ones you have. White shirts have an expiration date so if yours are looking a bit faded or yellowed now is great time to replace them. And I love a good light blue botton down for fall. Paired with a trench or a peacoat and jeans it's an instantly classic chic look.
Cable Knit Sweater
You may think this is boring and not a staple at all. But trust me. Having a good quality cable knit in cream, camel or gray is such a good style investment. Sometimes the "boring" thing is the item that you reach for the most and that can really elevate your entire wardrobe. I count cable knit sweaters as one of those items.
Tall Brown Leather Boots and Chelsea Boots
Two things I live in during fall: tall brown leather boots and black Chelsea boots. If you own no other boots, get these two and you are basically set. I love wearing Chelsea boots with dresses to give them a bit of an edge. And of course brown leather boots go with basically everything.
Long Sleeve Turtleneck
Fall for me is all about layering, I love a great layered look and it's also a great way to handle the changing and falling temps. I always stock up on black basic long sleeve turtlenecks to wear under sweaters or even layer under summer dresses to transition them into fall. Look for thin ones that aren't ribbed and won't look bulky under other pieces.
Long Sleeve Tees
I use these much the same way as I use turtlenecks. They are perfect for layering. I stock up in basic colors like black, gray and white. Again stick to thinner fabrics and avoid ribbing.
The discovery of bodysuits was a game-changer for my wardrobe And I wear them year-round. I go for more streamlined and classic kinds for fall. I wear them when I wear trousers or pencil skirts.
The bane of my curvy girl existence but an absolute wardrobe must. I'm all about Mom jeans and Boyfriend jeans with one or two pairs of skinny jeans to pair with tall boots.
What will you be stocking up on for the Fall months? Let me know in the comments!
